02 Choose observations

CC detections appear as solid dots colored by the count in each approximately 1 km cell, updated each minute.

Field mills: each point is labeled with its 1-minute mean (V/m) and colored red at |E| ≥ 1,000 V/m; yellow below that threshold if reached within the last 15 minutes; otherwise green.

One replay clock

Each observation gets a UTC validity window, so GR shows the right reading for each layer as you play, pause, or step through the archived radar — illustrated below.

About data & limits

Towers expire after 7 minutes, mills after 2, or sooner when replaced; lightning uses your selected trail. Future observations are never shown, and gaps stay visible rather than being filled in — the lightning row above shows one, past its trail.

Archive coverage varies by date and source; source availability does not establish complete sensor coverage. Field-mill and CC colors are visualization categories, not launch criteria.

Packages contain radar, placefiles, required icons, and instructions. Raw CSVs and profilers are excluded. Playback requires verification in your installed GR2Analyst 3.0, 3.2, or 3.4 — ZIP validation confirms file integrity, not GR compatibility.

From download to replay

Extract the complete ZIP to a permanent folder and read README.txt.
If wind icons are included, run FIX_ICON_PATHS.cmd or follow the manual path instructions.
Stop live polling in GR and open the files in the radar folder.
Add replay_clock_check.txt in Placefile Manager and check that its time follows the radar. Then add the remaining placefiles.
